Black Mesa Indigenous Support!

COME SUPPORT THE ELDERS AT BLACK MESA IN NORTHERN ARIZONA:

Families are asking for help. Now is the time to come and stay with a family. Black Mesa Indigenous Support is willing to help you get to the land -- please check the BMIS website here for specifics.

*** BLACK MESA NEEDS LIST ***

ANNUAL FALL FOOD & SUPPLY RUN. Black Mesa 'Giving Thanks' Food & Supply Run on Big Mountain area of Black Mesa, Thanksgiving week, November 21-26.

**COME TO BIG MOUNTAIN THIS FALL AND WINTER!!
It's that time of year again -- the fall "Thanks-Giving" season. It's an important time of year to show your support for the elders and families in anticipation for the approaching cold winter months. Also, it's a good time of year to join fall work crews before the ground freezes, to go on wood runs, and to join the Annual Fall Food and Supply Run. Black Mesa Indigenous Support (BMIS) has a list of projects that need attention: roof, home, road, and vehicular repair; water catchments; and more. In regards to support visiting and staying with families, resister grandmother Rena Babbit-Lane states "We welcome people to come out and support our resistance in this way."

Caravans are organized from the East and West coasts to come down and do work projects this fall. The FIRE UP! work party traveled from the east coast and stopped in 5 cities along the way to AZ, doing outreach and awareness. Consider organizing your own work crew! And if you can't come now, it's not too late--Black Mesa elders also need supporters to come to the land and stay to help work during this winter!

To organize a work crew or to come to Black Mesa as an individual supporter to herd sheep and support the families, please read the Cultural Sensitivity & Preparedness Packet then contact BMIS at blackmesais@riseup.net.

All are welcome to join the Annual Black Mesa Food & Supply Run. Each year supporters from the four directions visit (& some stay) with many families living on Black Mesa, where Dineh (Navajo) families have been affected by mining and relocation laws. Since the 1970s over 15,000 Dineh have been displaced from Black Mesa; a few hundred remain. Hands on projects will demonstrate how these communities are actively shaping their future and working to assure cultural survival. A tremendous amount of energy is needed for the fall supply run. Please help procure food, gather supplies, & raise funds. Help is needed to distribute goods & chop wood. There is a need for at least some of the folks who come out to help to show up with a truck or other vehicle capable of traversing the sometimes very rough reservation back roads. Please be sure to read the cultural sensitivity packet. See Clan Dyken, The Beauty Way Page for more info and to see a listing of their benefit tour dates: www.clandyken.com

* 'Thanksgiving' Caravan to Indigenous Resistance Communities, Black Mesa, Arizona. November 21st to November 26th. This Thanksgiving, there are a couple caravans of work crews traveling to Black Mesa, Arizona to spend a week with Dineh families affected by mining and relocation laws. One crew will be traveling from the San Francisco Bay Area region. Anyone with a willingness to work is invited. Be sure to read the cultural sensitivity packet to come prepared. To join, contact BMIS (blackmesais@riseup.net or voicemail 928-773-8086)or for the Bay Area caravan, contact the Vox Populi Collective at: vox.populi.collective@gmail.com or call (415) 552-6156.

* Come & Stay with a family any time of the year. In preparation for the approaching cold winter months, fall is an important time of year to show your support for families resisting relocation policies. Herd sheep, stay with an elder, repair homes & vehicles, offer massage, organize a work crew or bring yourself: What You Can Do
